At A.N.C.H.O.R. CDC, we believe that change happens when people come together to make a difference. By volunteering your time and talents, you play a vital role in empowering individuals, revitalizing neighborhoods, and creating sustainable opportunities in South Memphis and beyond.

Volunteer Opportunities

1. Community Garden Helpers

  • Plant, maintain, and harvest produce in our community gardens.

  • Assist with sustainable gardening workshops and garden-to-table events.

  • Promote healthy eating and self-reliance within the community.

2. Neighborhood Cleanup Crews

  • Join blight elimination projects to remove debris and revitalize public spaces.

  • Help transform vacant lots into parks, playgrounds, and green spaces.

  • Participate in mural-painting projects to beautify the neighborhood.

3. Workforce Development Mentors

  • Provide career coaching and resume-building support to job seekers.

  • Host mock interviews or lead industry-specific workshops in IT, healthcare, or logistics.

  • Empower participants to succeed in high-demand industries.

4. Event Support Volunteers

  • Assist with logistics and setup for workshops, fundraisers, and community events.

  • Welcome attendees, manage registration, and distribute materials.

  • Facilitate activities and ensure events run smoothly.

5. Food Security Program Assistants

  • Organize and distribute food during regular food drives.

  • Serve meals at hot meal programs for seniors, families, and vulnerable residents.

  • Raise awareness about food security initiatives in the community.

6. Administrative and Outreach Support

  • Help with office tasks like data entry, program tracking, and research.

  • Support social media campaigns and email outreach efforts.

  • Prepare marketing materials or assist with community mailings.

7. Hamilton Community Concourse Volunteers

  • Support workshops, fitness classes, and resource fairs at the A.N.C.H.O.R. Community Center.

  • Assist partner organizations in delivering services like housing counseling or legal aid.

  • Help coordinate community events held at the concourse.

8. Youth Program Mentors

  • Work directly with teens through leadership programs and civic engagement projects.

  • Guide youth in revitalization efforts or enrichment activities.

  • Provide after-school tutoring, life skills workshops, or career mentoring.

9. Fundraising and Advocacy Team

  • Help plan and execute fundraising events, such as galas or donation drives.

  • Advocate for A.N.C.H.O.R. CDC’s mission within the community.

  • Recruit sponsors or donors to support specific initiatives.

10. Volunteer Coordination Leaders

  • Take on a leadership role by managing groups of volunteers.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for volunteer teams.

  • Provide training and orientation for new volunteers.
